Graham Mulholland As an 18-year veteran of Oyster Creek Generating Station, Graham Mulholland certainly knows his way around the facility. “I came to Oyster Creek in 1988 straight from the U.S. Navy,” said Mulholland. “I started as a first line supervisor in the mechanical maintenance area and over the years continued to work my way up.” Today, as Work Week Manager of Oyster Creek Generating Station, Graham is responsible for the scheduling and executing of all maintenance work that goes on at the plant. While Graham is charged with overseeing one week of maintenance every five weeks, the preparation and planning for each maintenance week is a 365-day a year job. “My responsibilities include reactor and public safety and all of the development and scheduling of the work,” said Mulholland. “The scheduling of work is a key component to plant operations as it is critical that we are doing the right work at the right time and to ensure it is all sequenced properly.”
“It is our goal to position everything in the best way possible,” says Mulholland. “If something pressing pops up that needs to be addressed, we’ll re-sequence the week to make sure it is resolved.” Maintenance weeks are extremely busy for Graham, who will log 15-hour days at the facility to make sure everything is running smoothly. “I’ll get in the office at 5:00 a.m. and leave around 8:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m., but really we’re on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” he said. Currently, Mulholland is a member of the Speaker’s Bureau on License Renewal that works to increase awareness and educate the public about Oyster Creek’s license renewal. “I get to speak to the public and give tours of the plant each one is an important part of the process,” says Mulholland. When Graham is not
preparing for his workweek or educating the public, he is busy with his
family and church activities. A member of his children’s Little
League organization and an active member of his church, Graham is truly
a man of many talents. “I try to help my church as much as I can
by teaching faith formation to help prepare seventh graders for their
confirmation, taking care of the church grounds, and serving on the carnival
committee for our church’s annual celebration.” |
