Oyster Creek
has operated safely for 37 years and has more experience
in safe operations than any other nuclear plant in the nation.
Every day safety is the number-one priority at Oyster Creek.
Employees are not allowed to perform any task - no matter
how minute - unless it can be done safely. The safety of
the plant, personnel and the community is paramount at Oyster
Creek.
Since Oyster Creek began operation, more
than $1.2 billion in capital improvements has been reinvested
in extensive upgrades and maintenance. Additionally, the plant's
systems and components are routinely tested and inspected
to ensure continued safe and reliable operation and performance.
All nuclear power plants are subject
to a regular and rigorous program of the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) oversight, inspection, preventive and corrective
maintenance, equipment replacement, and extensive equipment
testing. These programs ensure that nuclear plant equipment
continues to meet safety standards, no matter how long the
plant has been operating.
In the event that something was discovered
that would impact safe operation during the license renewal
review, Oyster Creek would take and, in fact, be required
to take, appropriate action as it would under its current
license to maintain compliance with NRC rules and regulations.
Oyster Creek's safety equipment is inspected
on frequent basis. Each of these inspections includes all
critical welds on Reactor System Components and Safety Systems.
The components in these systems are routinely tested for
functionality and performance. Problems found are promptly
repaired and corrected.

safety program, please contact us.
